Major Project Research

Subject Area: Architecture

Project Title:  Centuries are not far from today

Project Aims and Objectives:

My aim is to research the ancient architectural structures around the earthquake fault line and put effort in understanding which style and techniques they used and that architectural structures still up after numerous earthquakes and passed time. After achieving the solution I will design projects and adapt them to the Architecture of modern day building designs. Examples will be high buildings and houses at the locations near different fault lines and environments .

The time I found acceptable answers for the all problems while I was doing the research next step of mine will be designing the adaptions of this day and I might will need doing research again until the time all project accomplish it .

My research should be academic and while I reading the some thesis could be confusing but with enough research about materials I will use and techniques and information I believe it could be compelling but achievable . This will be completed by the beginning of December.

I will be researching the following Architectures’:

Mimar Sinan , who was the chief architect of the Ottoman Empire for fifty years between 1538 and 1588 and his close to 400 work still present on this day . Recent research shows Mimar Sinan made his structures by using special techniques  for that time and those structures survived over 6 magnitude earthquakes .

I will be using the following Digital Software:

For design I am going to use Sketchup , Adobe Express , Milanote  software

For Research I am going to use De Montfort Library , Google Scholar

My main research subject  ; Earthquake :

My Target audience :

Research what a architects mood board looks like. The create your first mood board, with lots of images of the place, the style of architecture :

Natural disasters such as earthquakes are events that occur suddenly in nature causing a ranges of impact on human lives, infrastructures, and even the economy of nations. The resulting effect of an earthquake could be very devastating and the scale of causable damages is in response to its size.

Great number of earthquakes occur yearly across the globe. Records show that the count runs into millions. Though few of these global earthquakes fall into such categories that cause devastating damages to structures and the economy of nations, much more, a large number of the global earthquakes have no appreciable impact on built structure due to their small to moderate magnitude size. These quakes take place at a distance of 800km beneath the surface (Oluwafemi/publication 2006)

Materials :

In terms of sticking to main idea I am going to use domestic materials of countries .

All ancient structures made by local material of region the basic isolations made based by static forces and after flexibility of materials and the building comes .

My main purpose  to design buildings  take due the ancient ways which is effectible and more inexpensive ways to protect building  from earthquakes .

The Seisimic Isolation is main and most effective protection way  to secure building from earthquake today however the process and materials costs high amount of money .

The Seismic Isolation is more than expensive to using the local materials  so it is not going to be realistic to predict every building has seismic isolation in their building .

Summary is materials are changeable attached to location and budget .

Form and function

Function of structures going to be design by me , will be housing estate , community buildings , villa type and private houses to people can lives and the same time feels safe to right price for least needed things .

  1. Interesting project, which has a lot of potential. You have completed the basic research here for a greater project. Now that you have completed your first research project, you need to expand this information into more detailed research for the blog posts which will inform your final design boards. For example, target audience, you have a sub heading but there is no information
