First Thoughts about Themes : Primitivism , Pop Art , Industrial

Primitivism

My first thoughts about primitivism was history and the harmony of the humans and nature. One of the most important things for living as a creature or as a human being is feeling secure and accommodation caves was the start of the human accommodation and after humans start using mud and trees for build houses for themselves by using most basic materials from the nature .

Primitivism also remind me the ancient Ouroboros symbol which is found a lot of different places around the world. The snake or dragon which is eating own tail and symbolize the cycle of the life mostly used for books or drawings about alchemy. Cycle of the life , harmony between creatures and nature , sustainable materials are my first thoughts about Primitivism .

Pop Art

Inspired by Popular Culture, Advertisements, Movies and TV

My First thoughts about Pop Art was being extreme and making something which gets attention . Pop art in architecture seem to me being maximalist with colours and minimalist with shapes and mix them together.

In my opinion pop art the most basic first thoughts while you design and using childish perspective which is the way maximum way to work with your imagination .

Most hard thing while designing pop art is catching the balance.

This is a building in Rize / Turkey , design base on the traditional Turkish tea glass and the city is the biggest tea producer in Turkey .

Industrial

My first thoughts about industrial design is equality , similarity , geometry and factory.

For architecture in my opinion Industrial style is aesthetic and basic

covering even mix things like pipes , cement or bricks . And using the material without paint or covers however almost every material used are processed materials like steel or cement .

I think industrial buildings have modern and basic exterior and mostly naked and mix interior designs .

  1. Edit this post with your thoughts on each theme, think about how you might adapt each one to an architectural project and which of the three themes you are most interested in and why.
